A Bedroom Bench Makeover & New Pillows

Part of the bedroom makeover project includes adding new seating. Currently, there is a dining room chair but I really wanted a small bench for the end of the bed. I found this one at the Goodwill and fell in love with her simplicity and the beauty of her subtle curves.

It was a hideous yellow-green color with a yellow and green floral fabric hot glued on over the two other layers of fabric. I removed the seat and the fabric and replaced it with burlap, then painted the bench to match the nightstands.

My only real splurge for the room was my new pillows I special ordered from Full Bloom Cottage at Country Roads.

I'm not sold yet on the burlap...what do you think?

  1. What a great find! I love the bench, and the color you painted it looks fantastic. I understand what you mean about the burlap... maybe it's too much of a brown tone for all of the grays in the room?

  2. I agree with Gwen--maybe the burlap is too brown, like it needs to be aged or something, more like the pillows. But the bench does look great without that old green color!

  3. I dig the burlap!!!!But like the others I'm not sure it really worlks with the grey you have going on. I need to find a bench like that!! Our Goodwill rarewly has ANYTHING good! Thank goodness its getting to be yard sale season......I have a burlap coffee sack I think would look great as a seat!

  4. This is just perfect...burlap and everything...I love the texture against all of the ruffles & I think something more gray may be too matchy matchy...however, if you don't like it, ditch it...but I wouldn't...;)

  5. I really like the burlap. I think the mix of rough burlap and the contrast of the elegant legs of the bench look great. But you could always change it out for linen if the burlap is bothering you. I love your new pillows too!!

  14. Love the texture of the burlap, but I'm in the camp of thinking maybe it's too brown? Have you ever seen that off-white burlap? That might be a possibility...
Anyway, love the bench. It reminds me of this one that I did!

  17. Rooms can really pop when the walls and bedding have strong colour or patterns, and this sets the tone for some really rocking furniture choices.I like the burlap with amazing design.
