I'm thrilled to welcome to the BBC super-beginner-blogger, Laura, from Top This Top That! She's only been blogging for five months and has already passed 200 followers. It's of course because her talent is amazing! I had a great time working with her on her blog design last month as well. Welcome, Laura!
I was thrilled when Kristin asked me to be a part of this BBC Series. Although I am a new blogger, it hasn’t taken long to see the extreme sense of support within the blogging community ,which is the thing that I love most about blogging. Everyone wants to see everyone be successful!
I started Top This Top That in November,2011 as a way to unleash my creative energy. Truth is, I am crazy mad about anything DIY, especially when it comes to paint, furniture and décor. Perhaps you have seen my Drab to Fab Table:
I would tell any newer blogger starting out the following things 1) be consistent. I make a real effort to stick to a posting schedule of at least 2-3 posts per week 2) if you write great stuff and share great photos people will find you and want to read you, it just takes time. 3) reach out to an experienced blogger who you admire and ask for help and guidance. I knew nothing about blogging or where to start so I reached out to a favorite blogger in an email one day and asked if she could help me out, and she is still someone I could count on today.
Although I am an experienced decorator, being a mom is what I do best. As a relatively new blogger I am constantly trying to learn from watching other bloggers. My takeaways are transformed into my own style, and personality, which is what I want people to see when they come to Top This Top That. Please, just don’t smell the chickens!

That's excellent advice, Laura! Reaching out to an experienced blogger can help in a lot of ways, with exposure, with advice, or just to have someone to bounce things off of.
Be sure to visit Laura's blog and say hello!

Great advice! Can't wait to check out her blog. Megan
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder to stay patient and work on content. Beginners (and I'm sure pros) can't help but focus on the numbers, and that can get so discouraging!
ReplyDeleteGreat tips for everyone, Laura!
ReplyDeleteHi Kristin!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Kristin!
