Building Relationships Through Blogging from All Things Home

Welcome to the BBC! The Beginner Blogger's Club is a month-long series of posts that include both beginner blogger features and tips from the pros. For more information on the series, read the full BBC post here.

Hello from this Tennessee blogger to each one of you. So nice to meet you and have a chance to chat.

I am Amy from All Things Home. I have been blogging for almost two years now and my blog is focused on just what my name is…all things home. Now when I say all things about my home, you need to understand that the most important thing in my life is not my home, but my relationship with Christ, my family, and others.

I do love trying to make our home pretty, cozy and comfortable using great vintage flea market finds and I love sharing those ideas on my blog. However, my blog really means so much more to me than showing pictures of my fireplace mantel or my dining room table.

And, that, my friends, is what I want to share with you today.

The beautiful, talented and obviously very caring Kristin from Simply Klassic Home invited me to take part in a new series she is doing for new bloggers. She has asked several of us who have been blogging for awhile to share something about blogging that we are passionate about.

That question is so easy for me to answer.

I am passionate about sharing my faith and letting others know how much my relationship with Christ means to me. I am also very passionate about letting others know how important they are to God and also to me. I am passionate about building relationships with other bloggers that I meet here.

It is very important to me to let each and every person who “enters my home” know that they are welcome, they are appreciated, and that I don’t take their visit for granted.

If you take the time to come to my blog, spend your time reading my post and then very kindly leave a comment, then I think I owe you a thank you. I want you to know that I appreciate you spending your time on me. Time is precious, right?

When someone leaves me a comment, I try to always send a reply of thanks back to them. I really like to say more than thank you and make it more personal, but I don’t always have the time to say a whole lot. I also try to go to that person’s blog and leave a comment on one of their posts. I try to leave personal, detailed comments about the blog post that I have just read.

My friends, it doesn't take much time to say thank you. It doesn’t take much time to tell someone you appreciate them. I understand that if you are a huge blogger with thousands of followers who leave hundreds of comments, then it is going to be hard to tell each one thank you, but, I believe it’s worth a try. I think over a matter of time you could probably get a short reply out to everyone who has left you a note of kindness. Just try and see what you can do. It will mean so much to the person who left the comment in the first place. Really, it will. It means a lot to me for someone to acknowledge a comment that I have left for them.

Isn’t communication the key to building relationships with others? I know we have to communicate with God for our relationship to be what it needs to be. We have to communicate with our spouses, our children, our parents, friends, etc., right? If we communicate with each other, even if it’s only a few words, I believe it will build relationships that we are all looking for and are thankful for.

So, that’s my passion…building relationships, making friends, letting you know that I appreciate you. Take the time to be a friend or at least be friendly.
One final thought. My prayer is that when you enter into my home and spend time with me, that you will feel loved by the One that really matters…Jesus!

  1. How true! Without relationships we are nothing. I have been amazed at how many women of faith are out there blogging. I really never expected that when I started less than one year ago! It was a true surprise and I have made many new friends through blogging. When I began, I was feeling isolated and alone due to some dramatic life changes. Through this format I have been uplifted many times by dear friends. It has been a joy as well to share my faith with others and to have them share with me.
    Blessings, Lorraine
