A Little Q & A (My Top Five Favorite Facebook Questions & Prize Winners!!)

Those of you who follow along on Facebook, may have seen the little Q & A announcement I put out earlier this week. I wanted to know what YOU want to know, about me! AND I offered up prizes for my top five favorite questions, that I would then turn around and answer on the blog.

This was such a fun game that I think we may need to do this more often! You had some great questions, and I had fun coming up with some answers for you. Geez some of y'all are nosy! {kidding}

Now, I spontaneously promised a small prize to my top five favorite questions. While I'd love to join you for it, I'd love to at least buy you a Salted Caramel Mocha Latte, so I'll be sending $5 Starbucks gift cards to my favorites. If you see your name and question below, please email me your address ASAP! (and if you have a blog, let me know and I'll add a link).

{{for the record, this is my new favorite drink!!}}

Alright, here we go....

(1)
You are one creative lady! When do you feel the most creative? Does it come in spurts? Do you see something and get inspired by it? What triggers your creativity? I know I get inspired by other people's creativity and when that happens, look out!
{from Kathy Jackson}

Awww, thanks Kathy! This one kind of made me laugh though, because I still have a hard time seeing myself as a creative person, or as someone who can inspire others. It's humbling to have people come to me with questions or just with praise. I appreciate it more than you know!

All over the internet, ideas and tutorials abound. I get some inspiration from them, but really, each project is different. Sometimes I just all of a sudden will see an item differently, almost by accident. For example, the little Junkin' Pumpkin that took the blog world by storm? I had laid my little canning jar ring wreath down on a table to put it away. I happened to look at it as I passed the table, and there it was, and it was like, "Huh, that kind of looks like a pumpkin. Wonder what it would look like if I added some sticks." Boom. Other times, I've needed "something" (like the dress-up rack in my daughter's room) and I just walked around from room to room, and in my storage space, until inspiration struck.

Most of the time though, I see something someone else has done, or in a magazine or Pottery Barn catalog, and I think, "Hey, I can do that!" Yes, I'm an idea stealer.

What's your favorite scary movie?
{from Marinela Glass}

Oh my gosh I HATE scary movies!!! Ok, hate is a strong word, but I reeeeally dislike them. I had to stop watching Criminal Minds (TV show) because it would keep me up at night, quite certain that someone was sneaking around in my backyard and was going to all of a sudden show up in my window. (The fact that I am typing this at 11 pm is not helping). I do enjoy a good thriller, but not when I'm sleeping alone!

I do really love "Scream" though; does that count?

What's your best suggestion for a single mom who wants to be crafty but can't find the time? Money? In my own case laundry and cleaning seem to always loom overhead, it makes it hard to justify creating a new project.
{from Kara Lynn Mueller}

I say, BE CRAFTY! Find a way to do it. Making time for yourself and doing something you love, makes you happy, and a happy person is a happier parent. The dishes and laundry can wait. Now, I'm not saying let your house get all dirty and smelly, but take some time, even if it's just an hour or two a week, and do something crafty, if that's what makes you happy. Trust me, my house is piled with dirty dishes and laundry most days, you just don't see that in the pictures.

It doesn't take a lot of money to be crafty. Just visit your local Dollar Store and see what inspires you. Like Kate did to make these wall hangings.

Figure out what inspires you, and make it happen!

What will YOU be for Halloween?
{from Jodi Reuter}

This one really made me laugh out loud. I have not dressed up for Halloween since I was eleven (I think). And even then, my costume sucked. I threw on a LA Kings sweatshirt (BOO!!), carried a hockey stick and blacked out a tooth.

I'm sure my kids would love it though. Maybe I'll consider it...next year!

As a single mom what is your most prized time management tip?
{from Jessica Sage}

I am AWFUL at time management. I get caught up doing a project and then before I know it it's 11 pm and I still have five things to do before I can go to bed. Oh, and I've usually started the project around 10 pm.

However, I do have a pretty good schedule going when it comes to my kids. I thrive on structure and schedules, and thankfully, so do my kids (well, kids in general). We have a set routine in the morning, and in the evenings, and they know what's expected of them. That has helped tremendously with bedtimes, and getting ready for school in the morning. It helps me (and my sanity) too!

Truthfully, time management is something I need to work on, and I've actually considered purchasing an e-book or something to help. I just haven't found the time to do it yet...

Thank you to everyone who commented with your questions. I'll answer some more on Facebook over the next week.

What did you think of the game? Should it be a monthly thing??

(By the way, you should really be following Simply Klassic on Facebook if you're not already! All the cool kids are doing it!)

  1. These are fun answers! Although, boo for not wearing a costume! Halloween is so fun!! P.S. I hate scary movies too. My kind of Halloween movies are jovial pocus, and casper the friendly ghost!

  2. So nice to get to know a little more about you! Since I was about 10, I have always hated {yes, I know that is a strong word!} dressing up for Halloween. Love everything else about it but I despise wearing a costume! I love seeing all of the little kiddies in theirs though!:)
