Hi, I'm Solange and I blog at Shaggy Sheep Home, where I always try to embrace life and its seasons. I want my children to grow up in a home with traditions that they can pass down to their own kids. On Shaggy Sheep Home I talk a lot about homesteading, decorating, cooking, and crafts, but they all go in hand with the current month. There is something to be said about planting a garden in the spring, drying your clothes outside in the summer, eating an apple pie in the fall and staying warm by a fire in the winter. I am also interested in featuring your families seasonal traditions, decorating, recipes, crafts, and homesteading. Please email me at solangeknowspicking@gmail.com.
Every Thanksgiving I announce that I am thankful for my family. As the oldest of eight who is married to a wonderful man with three children of our own, I feel deeply blessed. However, that is not what I am most thankful for. I have something that is not easy to obtain, that people lose often, and some will never have. I am always asking for more of it, and that is my faith. It has made me who I am today. If I could give people a gift, more than money, health or even love, I would give them the gift of faith.
What is Faith?
Wikipedia tells us faith is a belief in God. We all know people who have very little faith. No matter how much faith or how little faith you have, you can use even a sliver of it to ask for more. The more we ask for it, the more we receive of it. This way, we can make this treasure a bigger and stronger part of our lives. Your faith, like many things in life, comes with a “use it or lose it” clause. It is so important because faith helps us know that God loves us and will provide for us if we only let him. With faith, you know that He knows best and can rest in trusting Him. It is not the belief that God will answer all our prayers with a yes. God sometimes has other plans but if we trust him, we can be at peace whether life makes sense to us or not.
What Faith has done for me:
Life can be ridiculously hard, but as long as I have faith, I have peace. I have suffered from sexual abuse, four miscarriages, and the loss of loved ones. During these hard times, faith has been the source of my peace and hope. It has been an antidote for the poisons of fear and despair. My faith allows me to see the blessings in my life and gives me the strength to remain a Christian. My faith has been a beacon of light pointing me towards the road I should take and keeping me from feeling lost in the darkness. My faith is always under attack, and I am often afraid of losing it. If everything important in my life is taken away from me, it will be the faith that God gives me that will keep me from despair. Good times let you enjoy your faith; hard times make you exercise your faith. At all times, I am grateful for this treasure called faith.
What an incredible faith you have. Thank you so much for sharing with us today!

ReplyDeleteThank you Kristen for asking me to guest post. Even today I am finding myself asking for more faith because its the only thing that's going to keep me going strong for my children. Life has been bitter sweet lately and I'm having a hard time tasting the sweet because the bitter is so strong.
ReplyDeleteFaith is what we HAD to name our youngest daughter because its FAITH that takes us through.

ReplyDeleteI'm now a follower here and at Shabby Sheep Home!
ReplyDeleteI whole heartedly agree with you. My goal was to see that my children walked in faith and truth. My favorite bible quote is: I have no greater joy than to have my children walk in truth. 3 John 1-4
ReplyDeleteSolange is so sweet and amazing.

Solange has a positive faith on her life. God always tests us through hard and good times. I was so sad when I read that she had 4 miscarriages. But I’m happy in a way, because she has confident and strength. God bless her.
ReplyDeleteI remember asking a pastor in college what faith was, and I don't remember getting a very good answer, so I've struggled with it for a long time. But God really showed me His presence several years ago, and ever since, I haven't really had a problem understanding that faith is my trust in Him, even if I don't understand what's going on, because He does. Your explanation is beautiful, thank you!
