Ingredients for Parmesan Baked Shrimp

Pick up a bag of shrimp and grab some simple, staple ingredients from your fridge and pantry.

  • Grated Parmesan Cheese – You can use the processed for this.
  • Seasoned Salt and Ground Black Pepper
  • Butter – I like to use unsalted to control the salt amount, but you can use salted and just use a little less seasoned salt.
  • Raw Shrimp – Use shrimp that has the tail on and is peeled/deveined.
  • Fresh Parsley
  • Lemon Slices – Optional, but great for serving

How To Bake Shrimp

This baked shrimp recipe is so easy to make – perfect for a delicious weeknight dinner.

  1. Prep. Start by preheating the oven to 425 degrees F and lining a baking sheet with foil, parchment, or spraying with cooking spray.
  2. Mix topping. Mix together the parmesan cheese, seasoned salt, and pepper in a small bowl or a plate.
  3. Dip shrimp. Dip each shrimp in the melted butter then in the parmesan cheese mixture – flipping to coat both sides of the shrimp. Add the coated shrimp to the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. It’s best to leave a little space in between each shrimp for best browning.
  4. Bake – Bake the shrimp in the preheated oven for about 8 minutes or until cooked through. Serve with the fresh chopped parsley and garnished with lemon slices.

How do you know when shrimp is cooked?

Color is the easiest way to tell that shrimp is cooked. While raw shrimp is gray and slightly translucent, cooked shrimp is opaque and pink. Be careful not to overcook shrimp as they can become tough.

Can I use frozen shrimp?

Yes, you can use frozen shrimp but they need to be thawed first. Luckily, frozen shrimp defrost very quickly especially if you run under cold water.

These tasty Parmesan shrimp are great as an easy appetizer or as part of a complete dinner. For dinner, you can serve the shrimp with so many different sides and recipes. I love pairing the shrimp with this seasoned rice and a vegetable like these oven roasted asparagus.

Quickly thaw frozen shrimp – You can thaw frozen shrimp by running them under cold water until the ice has melted. This only takes a few minutes.

Buy peeled and deveined shrimp – Buying pre-peeled and deveined shrimp is such a time saver! It’s up to you if you want to have tails on or off. Tails on for presentation, but tails of for easy of eating.

Storage and Reheating

Storage – Leftover, cooked shrimp can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Reheating – Leftovers can be reheated in the air fryer or oven at 350 degrees F for just a few minutes until warmed. You can also microwave the shrimp until warm – it doesn’t take long, about 30 seconds. Leftover shrimp can also be eaten cold – I love adding them to a salad.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt you can use less to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 lbs raw shrimp tail on, peeled, deveined
  • 3 tablespoons fresh parsley finely chopped
  • Optional: lemon slices

Instructions

  • In a small bowl or plate, combine the parmesan cheese with seasoned salt and pepper. Set aside.

  1. It might have been the Parm I used, but this was so salty I couldn’t eat it. Super easy, so I may try again using some panko and different Parm.

    1. The seasoning salt brand can make a difference as well. I added a note about the salt to the recipe though, because the saltiness can also be subjective.
