Why I Love This Recipe

  • Easy to Make – There aren’t a ton of crazy, hard to find ingredients. Just follow the simple instructions and you’re on your way to an orange creamsicle flavor explosion!
  • Tons of Orange Flavor – I infused this cake with orange flavors wherever I could, and it shows.
  • Nostalgic – Orange creamsicles are reminiscent of childhood summers and the ice cream man, and this cake brings that all back!

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • White Cake Mix – Keeping is super simple with a box of cake mix. You’ll replace some of the ingredients, so don’t follow the instructions on the box.
  • Orange Jello
  • Hot Water – Just heat it up in the microwave. Doesn’t need to be boil, but near that. This is to mix with the Jello.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk – Part of the filling with the Jello.
  • Cheesecake Pudding Mix – Vanilla would be a good substitute if you can’t find the cheesecake flavor.
  • Milk – Any kind of you have on hand; preferably not sweetened.
  • Whipped Topping – like Cool Whip.
  • Orange Zest – to add orange flavor to the frosting.
  • Orange Slices and Whipped Cream (Optional) – For garnishing the cake.

How To Make Orange Creamsicle Cake

  • Bake cake – Mix together the ingredients called for on the box, except sub the liquid (water or milk) for orange soda. Bake as directed in a greased 9×13-inch bakeng pan.
  • Poke – Use the tines of a fork for small holes, or the round end of a wooden spoon for larger holes.
  • Mix the filling – Stir together Jello, hot water, and sweetened condensed milk and pour it over the top of the cake.
  • Chill – Pop the cake in the fridge for about an hour. You could even leave it overnight.
  • Make the frosting – Whisk together pudding mix and milk, then fold in the whipped topping and orange zest.
  • Frost the cake – Use an offset spatula to frost the cake.
  • Serve – Cut into squares and serve with a dollop of whipped cream and an orange slice for garnish.

Storage

Cover with plastic wrap and store the cake in the pan in the refrigerator. Or store individual slices in an airtight container. It will remain fresh for a few days.
