Time and money for decorating has been drastically cut for me. Yet, as soon as March 1 hit, I knew it was time to change out the winter and Christmas decor (yes, I still has a few Christmas decorations up in a couple of rooms), and bring on the spring!
Problem is, I don’t have a lot of spring decor. So I went around the house, searching for inspiration. I found a few white pitchers, some artificial hydrangea and some canning jars and set to work.
I also found this:
Now, I’m not real big on decorating with old things just for the sake of decorating. I love it when others do, but it’s just never worked for me. But this has history. It was my grandparent’s ladder. Not sure how old it is, but I can just imagine the stories in those paint splatters.
I brought it in the house because I’ve always seen these little ladders used as display pieces and I wanted to give it a shot.
What do you think?
I used the canning jars, pitcher and hydrangeas that I found and also my cute little cherub (it’s actually a sprinkler!).
I absolutely love how it looks in my living room. My children however, will probably make sure that it doesn’t stay there for long.
I also finished started decorating my mantle. I’m not thrilled with it, but I did only use what I had, and remember I said I don’t have much spring decor? I opted to bring in only spring green as my accent color, and I love it.
I’ve decided on the pillows I want, and will be ordering them later this week. I’ll share as soon as they arrive.
I found some Easter decor as well, but I’m waiting a few weeks before putting that up. There will be a cute little project that my grandmother made years ago that I think you will like, so stick around!

I like how you decorated the ladder. It looks very similar, paint splatters on all, to one I have. I found it in my Mom’s basement years ago. I just recently pulled it out of my own basement and have been trying to work it into my decor somehow.
Love how you used your ladder, and I love using Mason jars for flowers as well.
Looking good…love the flowers and jars! I’m having a giveaway…be sure to come by and check it out…it ends March 6.
Blessings,
Linda
Looks great.
I love the ladder, Kristin! It looks fantastic, although I immediately thought “That won’t last long with the kids around”:) Love the spring green, too.
Have you gotten used to saying the words ‘my children?’ I’m so happy for you and hope that the transition is going smoothly!
As for the decor – I love it! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the ladder, and I think your mantle looks perfect!
It all looks great Kristin! I love to use pieces in my house that have some family history, like your grandparents ladder. I have a lot of “family” stuff in my house. I just can’t part with it. Looking forward to see more!
Take care, Sue
I think it looks just fabulous and I feel inspired to do some springy things around here now!! Thanks for that! I love that chunky frame on your mantle!!
The ladder is a whimsical little touch, and the fact that every drop of paint means something special to you is just wonderful!!
Hope you are having a good week!

Looks great! I love the combination of the rustic wood, the flowers and the glass.
