Why I Love This Meal

  • Quick and easy – I can whip this whole meal up in less than 30 minutes.
  • Adaptable – I used french bread for the base but you could just as easily use a store-bought pizza dough. Or swap out the ground beef for ground turkey or chicken.
  • Kid Friendly – Almost all kids seem to love sloppy joes, and us grown-ups get all nostalgic for it. It’s a win-win!

How to Make Sloppy Joe Pizza

See recipe card below for ingredient quantities and full instructions.

  • Preheat the oven to 350℉ and line a sheet pan with foil.
  • Slice a french bread loaf in half lengthwise and place the halves side by side on the baking sheet.
  • Saute onion and bell pepper in olive oil until soft, then crumble in some ground beef and cook until no longer pink.
  • Stir in the sloppy joe sauce and heat through.
  • Spread the meat mixture onto the french bread halves from end to end then top with cheese.
  • Bake until the cheese is bubbly, garnish with fresh parsley and rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

  1. I wonder if the French bread should be buttered and toasted before and the sloppy Joe mixture. My bread was not as toasty as I wish it would have been. Just a thought.

    1. I haven’t tried it yet but am wondering the same thing. Not a fan of soggy bread but this looks really good!

  2. Torn between the sliders and the cups. Have made both with homemade bbq/sloppy Joe. Would use the bold for both. Does anyone remember when Manwich had a variety that came in a jar? I used it in many recipes as a base. Then, was gone. Was bored, but also chunky. Bummer when cool things go bubye.

  3. I didn’t realize there were so many great things you can make with Manwich!! I would love to try the Manwich Slow Cooker Pulled Chicken Sandwiches!!

  4. I found a few I liked but I love mini bite sizes easy to grab and eat baked sloppy Joe’s cups will be something I’ll try soon!
