Basic Cooked Ground Turkey

  • 3 pounds lean ground turkey
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • salt and pepper to taste


  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat.┬áMelt a tablespoon of oil in the pan.
  • Add ground turkey, diced onion and minced garlic. Break up ground meat with a spoon.
  • Cook until the onions are translucent and turkey is tender; about 7-10 minutes. Drain any extra grease.
  • Cool meat completely, then portion into freezer bags. I usually will portion 2 1/4 cups of meat per bag, which equals about a pound. Be sure to label with a date - frozen cooked ground turkey will last about 3-4 days in the fridge and up to 4 months in the freezer.
